Technology Alert from The Wall Street Journal Microsoft's quarterly profit jumped 60% to $6.66 billion, benefiting from strong holiday sales of PC running the Windows 7 operating system. Revenue jumped 14% to $19.02 billion, including $1.7 billion in revenue Microsoft had to defer in previous quarters through its Windows 7 upgrade option.
